The Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic opened its doors in May 2008 to provide access to affordable dental care for low-income Waukesha County residents. The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and operates with a full time, paid staff including a dentist, executive director, a bilingual hygienist, two assistants (one of them bilingual), a bilingual receptionist, and local volunteer dentists and hygienists.
Our professional staff and volunteers provide dental treatment to children and adults who might otherwise have gone without care. Need is identified by having income falling below 200% of the U. S. Federal Poverty Guidelines. Dental care at the clinic isn’t free; however, fees for dental services do not exceed $20.00 per visit for uninsured patients. Medicaid coverage is accepted and billed as appropriate.
The WCCDC is creating a healthier life and a brighter future for families who live and work in our community. We also educate low-income families in our community on proper dental hygiene so they can maintain oral health throughout their lifetime. Our services are in much demand. The average waiting period for an appointment at the WCCDC might be up to 2 months. As part of each visit to the clinic, the staff at Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic assesses our patients' oral hygiene compliance. Parents are invited into the examination room to see for themselves how their child is doing and to review home care instructions. Since dental cavities are a fully preventable childhood disease, motivating parents to help their children maintain their healthy smiles is part of every visit.
